Volunteer Opportunities
Below you will find a brief list of one time and short-term volunteer language opportunities. These volunteer sessions give you the chance to use your language skills while you give back to the local community. If you are looking for a more structured long-term language volunteer opportunity please check out the Romance Language’s PLE program.

ONE TIME & SHORT-TERM LANGUAGE VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS:
Close down School of Americas Fund Raiser (One time event)
Volunteers are needed on Friday, November 7th for a fund raising benefit concert for Close down SOA (School of Americas) Volunteers will help during the fund raiser where needed. For more information, please contact: Scott Miksch at 541-485-8633 or ciscap@efn.org
Day of the Dead (Short-term Event)
Bilingual guides needed for Day of the Dead (El Día de los Muertos) tours at the Maude Kerns Art Center from October 17 to November 7. Gallery guide orientation at the Art Center is on Thursday, October 16, 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Pizza and Refreshments included! Carnaval Latino (One time event)
Volunteers are needed to assist with carnival games, face painting, raffle drawings, the climbing wall, and other fun activities on Saturday, September 27th from 12:30pm-4:15pm at the Willamalane Center. Families from all over the Eugene/Springfield area attend this free event to play carnival games and learn about community resources. For more information, please contact Kim at kiml@willamalane.org.
Noche de Lotería (One time event)
Volunteers are needed to host a popular Mexican game of chance (Noche de Lotería) that is similar to bing. Volunteers will help call, hand out cards, prizes, and chips and salsa. It will be on Friday, November 14th from 6pm-8:30pm at the Willamalane Adult Activity Center. For more information, please contact Kim at kiml@willamalane.org.
Lego Robotics Program (Short-term event)
Help a temporary staff member that is running the program in which the participants engage in building robots with the Girl Scout troops. Located at Bohemia Elementary School in Cottage Grove on Wednesdays from 1:30-3:30 p.m. This is an 8-weeks commitment starting October 1st. Please contact: Latha Meyer at 541-246-1251

United Way of Lane County (internship)
Are you, or someone you know, looking for some extra experience in program coordination and volunteer management this summer? Want to work closely with non-profit professionals and still interact face to face with children in our community? United Way of Lane County is seeking motivated candidates for Summer Reading Spot Project Interns!
Interns will coordinate and market a neighborhood reading group for young children for 10 weeks this summer. Other responsibilities will include recruiting and scheduling volunteers, assisting with corporate book drives, organizing special summer events and managing the reading sites. We are seeking interns for sites in Eugene, Springfield, and Cottage Grove.
